Traffic Alert: Shed load brings chaos to motorway network

7pm Update

MOTORISTS are now being warned of two hour delays; with conditions not expected to return to normal until closer to 9pm.

MOTORISTS using the M5 have been warned of delays of up to 90 minutes after a lorry shed its load.

The incident is affecting the northbound carriageway between junctions 5 at Droitwich and 4a, the exit for the M42.

The delays are compounded because the incident is in the roadworks section of the motorway.

Highways England say the hard shoulder, together with lanes one and two are both closed and the incident is not expected to clear until 8pm at the earliest. It has warned of delays on one and a half hours.

Drivers approaching the incident have been advised to avoid the area but approach roads are already badly congested.
