Crawshaws set to beef up in West Bromwich as expansion continues

CRAWSHAWS GROUP, the expanding butchers chain, is to create 20 jobs after it invested £250,000 in a new West Bromwich site.

It will open its 46th store next month on the site of former Chinese restaurant Jade Crystal in Dudley Street and it will become the group’s fourth, and largest, Fresh Meat Factory Shop.

The AIM-listed fresh meat and food-to-go retailer has taken a 10-year lease at the 2,600 sq ft site. The investment forms part of a wider £200m strategy to open 200 stores and create 2,500 jobs by 2022.

The meaty expansion is part of a “transformative year” under new management and follows new high street stores in Cannock and Leicester.

Chief executive Noel Collett, who is leading the expansion, hailed the West Bromwich opening as a “significant economic move”.

Crawshaw, which is based in Rotherham, says the Fresh Meat Factory shop is to offer meat at half the price of supermarkets.

Richard Horwell, of Bond Wolfe’s commercial agency team, said: “We are very pleased to have concluded this letting to such a forward thinking progressive company as Crawshaws.”
