Outline approval granted for 2,000 homes

PLANS to build 2,000 homes near to Jaguar Land Rover’s Gaydon plant have been approved by a council planning committee.

Stratford-upon-Avon District Council have given outline planning permission for the development, which could eventually rise to 3,000 homes.

The site, known as Kingston Grange, would also include extra care housing, a primary school, community hub, health centre, retail and other services.

Cllr Danny Kendall, Chairman of Planning Committee (East) said: “The Committee had a very robust debate during proceedings and whilst the approval has been given for the principle of this development to go forward the more detailed plan and works must now begin in order to achieve a development that is sustainable in the future.”

The application was approved, which followed the recommendation from council officers, subject to final traffic works on the B4100 being brought back to the Committee for approval. The Committee voted 5 in favour with 1 against.
