Appointments: Lodders; Wates Construction; SDL Bigwood

MIDLANDS law firm Lodders has strengthened its Real Estate team with a new appointment.

Josy Haigh, who has over 15 years’ experience in the legal sector, has held public sector, private practice and in-house positions, most recently as Property and Contracts lawyer at Solihull Borough Council, and previously as Senior Legal Officer at Coventry City Council. She also spent two years in the Commercial Property and Commercial Contracts Team at Huddersfield firm Eaton Smith Solicitors.
 
In the new role, she will work alongside Partner James Mottram, a specialist in residential development.

She is the third fee earner to join the Real Estate team this year.

Lodders’ Real Estate team is now 18-strong, with six partners including team head Nick East. Clients include CALA Homes, Cameron Homes and Spitfire Properties.
 
Mr Mottram said: “The team has had an exceptionally busy start to 2016, and Josy joins as instructions continue to grow, with the number and scale of new developments taking a noticeable upturn.”

James Willis, Business Development Manager, Wates ConstructionWates Construction has kick-started a regional growth strategy in the Midlands with the appointment of James Willis as Business Development Manager.

Mr Willis (left) joins from NG Bailey where he was responsible for nurturing client relationships and identifying new business opportunities. The role also saw him exceed an overall business turnover target by £15m.

In his new role he will be responsible for growing Wates’ private sector client base in the region and is tasked with further expanding business operations into the East Midlands.

Boasting over 20 years of experience, Mr Willis started his career as a Mechanical Engineer and progressively climbed the ranks to become Project Manager before moving to business development.

Phil Harrison, Managing Director of Wates Construction in the Midlands and North, said: “The strength of our business rests on the expertise of our people and I am more than confident that James will be a great asset to the team; the experience he brings will complement our ongoing growth in the Midlands.”

Wates’ work in the region currently includes the multi-million pound refurbishment of Ardstone Capital’s Phoenix House in Birmingham and Wellingborough Council’s new crematorium, near Great Doddington, which was procured through Scape’s East Midlands Property Alliance (empa) framework.

James Simpson (left) and Stuart Burridge, both SDL Bigwood SDL Bigwood has appointed a new surveyor as it looks to support its continued growth in Birmingham.

In his new role, James Simpson (left), who is transferring from the firm’s Colmore Row offices to its Summer Row headquarters, will be carrying out property surveys and reinstatement cost assessments for residential buildings managed by SDL Bigwood.

Stuart Burridge (right), PRS & Estate Management head of property compliance, said: “With a total of nine years of completing reinstatement cost assessments, James is an experienced property surveyor and will bring a wealth of knowledge to the team.”
