12.55PM All lanes have reopened, and delays are easing, although journeys on the M6 southbound through junctions 11-8 are taking up to 30 minutes longer than normal.
12.10PM Police have reopened the motorway, although one lane on the M5 slip road remains closed. Heavy congestion is back past junction 10A, where the M54 meets the M6.
There are delays of around 50 minutes compared with normal traffic conditions.
11.50AM Traffic officers have temporarily stopped traffic on the M6 southbound to deal with the incident.
