New MD at Birmingham office of risk manager

RISK management and commercial insurer broker, Arthur J. Gallagher has appointed Guy Mills as managing director of its Birmingham branch.
 
His appointment to lead the nearly 90-strong team is an internal promotion for Mr Mills, who started with the business 12 years ago, as a trainee account executive. Since then, he has progressed through the ranks to his most recent position as head of the corporate insurance division in the city.
 
In his new role, Mr Mills will oversee the operations of the Newhall Street branch, where teams focus on meeting the risk management and insurance broking needs of businesses in sectors such as manufacturing and construction.

Mr Mills said: “I’m delighted to be taking this role within Arthur J. Gallagher. I relish the opportunity of helping the business in Birmingham capitalise on (our) strengths.

“We have started 2016 strongly with some terrific new clients joining us. It’s an exciting time to be at the helm and I look forward to leading the team to further success.”

Murphy Salisbury partner in a spin over new appointment

Bobby Gupta, partner, Murphy SalisburyA partner at Stratford-upon-Avon accountancy firm Murphy Salisbury has been appointed as the new Financial Director of Warwickshire Cricket Board.
 
Bobby Gupta (left) has more than three decades of experience handling the financial and tax affairs of some of the West Midland’s leading businesses and has a passion for the sport.

The Warwickshire Cricket Board is responsible for all recreational cricket in the county and works with the England & Wales Cricket Board to promote the sport in the county.
 
The board also has close ties to Warwickshire County Cricket Club, which helps them co-ordinate and support a wide range of activities designed to provide playing opportunities for adults, boys, girls and people with disabilities.
 
Mr Gupta said: “I am truly honoured to be appointed and I look forward to helping support the board as it promotes cricket within the county.”
 

Partner promotion at BDO

Tim Foster, partner, BDOBDO has promoted to partner Tim Foster, who heads up the firm’s Risk and Advisory Services team in the Midlands.

Mr Foster (left), who joined BDO in 2013 from KPMG, has considerable experience of providing internal audit, corporate governance and risk management solutions to a portfolio of leading organisations throughout the UK and the world across a number of sectors, including manufacturing, retail, TMT, construction and housing.

He has over 17 years’ experience in leading on assignments across multiple countries and territories, and has a track record of successfully managing teams and streamlining controls and processes to focus on client priorities.

During his career he has acted as Head of Internal Audit for two FTSE 250 companies reporting directing into the Board and their supporting committees.
