Care centre expands after new funding deal

A STAFFORDSHIRE care centre specialising in support for elderly people has expanded following a new funding deal.

Manor House Day Centre in Tamworth has built the extension after receiving a £100,000 from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking.

The extension has helped to increase capacity at the Hockley Road centre, while also creating a number of new jobs.

The 40m² building has enabled the centre to cater for another six people, while the facility also houses a stage for social functions.

As part of its expansion plans, the management team are now planning to invest in a new bus to ensure residents from surrounding areas can get to and from the centre.

The additional support means the centre will also be growing its current team of 12, in line with its growth.

Manor House Day Centre opened in 2011, and provides a location for elderly people to socialise and participate in group activities. Allowing guests to make the most of later life, the centre also provides three-course home cooked meals, as well as day trips to various locations.

Joanne Thompson, director at Manor House Day Centre, said: “In the four years since we opened, we’ve prided ourselves on providing an enabling environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, and this extension means we are now able to offer this service to more people than ever.

“We’re grateful for the support we’ve received from Lloyds Bank, and we look forward to a continued partnership as we grow further in future.”

Sarah Woodward, relationship manager at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said: “Manor House Day Centre provides an invaluable service to the local community, and we are pleased to support its expansion so it can continue its great work.”
