Birmingham restaurant recognised in global hospitality awards

A BIRMINGHAM restaurant has become one of a handful of UK companies to be recognised in a global lifestyle awards.

Le Monde Fish Bar and Grill in Brindleyplace has been named Best Seafood Restaurant in the prestigious Lux Hospitality Awards for 2016.

In doing so, it sits alongside other award winners such as the Grand Hotel and Spa in York (Most Luxurious Hotel and Spa); Los Angeles as Best Cultural City Tour and Botswana, which received the Wildlife Conservation Award.

Le Monde opened in Birmingham two years ago after 30 successful years in Cardiff.

It has quickly established itself as a business community favourite for its range of fish and shellfish, and for non-fish lovers, its steaks.

It has also introduced Birmingham palates to some rather more unusual fish dishes, including lobster and chips, oysters, clams and razor clams, John Dory, eel and skate wing.

With all things French currently being flavour of the month (at least among football supporters), Frogs legs are an addition to the menu.

All the fish are displayed in market-style cabinets in the restaurant, and guests are encouraged to take a look before ordering.

Emma Carter, Le Monde general manager, said: “We are thrilled to be recognised by Lux as Best Seafood Restaurant. It is a tremendous accolade for our business and reinforces the positive feedback we get from our guests.

“We are proud of the range and quality of fish and shellfish we offer each day, and are constantly working to offer guests new and exciting dishes.”

The Lux awards are considered a benchmark for the hospitality sector and they recognise the achievements of firms within the industry, as well as grade client satisfaction.

Discussing the awards, co-ordinator Steve Simpson, said: “Throughout the hospitality industry there are establishments working tirelessly to ensure that they meet guests’ needs and provide them with an experience they will never forget.

“I am genuinely honoured to be able to recognise the hard work undertaken within this innovative and dedicated industry, and I would like to congratulate all of my winners and wish them every success going forward.”

Le Monde has two private dining rooms seating from 15 – 50 people which are used for celebrations and business events. Its bar area is home to live music every Friday evening, and it is hosting bands from The Birmingham International Jazz Festival on Friday July 15 and 22, and Saturday July 16 and 23.
