Developers try hard for Rugby club conversion

A FORMER ex-servicemen’s club in Warwickshire is set to be converted into a mixed-use dining and apartments scheme.

Developers plan to convert the ground floor of the RADEA Club, in Castle Street, Rugby into brand new restaurant with four modern apartments above.

A planning application is being prepared and will be submitted to Rugby Borough Council shortly.

The scheme is the brainchild of property developer Kulwinder Bath, who hopes the project will be completed by next summer if permission is granted.

He was assisted in the purchase of the ex-servicemen’s club by commercial property company D&P Holt.

He said: “The ex-servicemen’s club is in the heart of Rugby town centre which makes it the perfect location for a new restaurant and four modern, spacious apartments.

“Our plans feature three one-bed and one two-bed apartments which are close to local amenities and transport links.

“Rugby is a thriving town which is just a short train journey away from London, making it a suitable location not just for those who work in the town but also for commuters.”

He said his team had been working closely with Rugby Borough Council during the planning process, and if the application was successful then the apartments would be ready to rent and the restaurant available to let by next summer.

“D&P Holt have been very supportive throughout the whole process and we hope to work with them again in the future,” he added.

Luke Hedderwick, at D&P Holt, said: “It’s great to see buildings being brought back into use, and if planning permission is granted the ex-servicemen’s club will undergo a huge transformation.

“New homes are very much in demand so the development is sure to be welcomed. The new restaurant will also be a great addition to the town.

“We are very pleased that we have been able to play a part in helping Kulwinder and his team get this project underway.”
