Events company encouraged by barn conversion

A WARWICKSHIRE barn has been converted into a new restaurant specialising in private functions.

Swallows Nest Barn in Sherbourne has been converted on the farm of owners David and Rachel Lea.

Events company, The Venue Group, which is behind the plan, plans to use the facility as a private restaurant which will host functions such as weddings.

The venue, which dates back to the 19th century, can seat up to 120 people and can also be tailored to suit smaller parties and also benefits from a wedding licence, allowing for wedding ceremonies to be held on site.

The conversion and launch of Swallows Nest Barn took around nine months to complete and the business diversification was overseen by Leamington and Coventry-based accountants and business advisors Harrison Beale & Owen (HB&O).

David Lea, from Swallows Nest Barn, said: “We’ve worked extremely hard to establish a high quality venue from 19th century barns, and we’re delighted with what we’ve been able to achieve.

“Working in partnership with the Venue Group, we’ve developed first class function facilities, together with high quality catering, which utilise our previously redundant agricultural barns and the surrounding farm land.

“We’ve been extremely encouraged by the success of Swallows Nest Barn at such an early stage.”

Ben Jones, director of Venue Group, said: “We’re delighted with the reputation Swallows Nest Barn has already developed in a short space of time, much of which has come through word of mouth.”

Rob Kendall, managing partner at HB&O, has worked on the project from the start.

He said: “We’ve seen the venue take shape since the plans were first drawn up and we’ve been hugely impressed with the end result.”
