Storage success prompts expansion for removals business

A WARWICKSHIRE removals and storage company which started out with just a single transit van five years ago has expanded into a new 11,000 sq ft headquarters.

More Than Removals and Storage was launched in 2011 by Richard Churchill-Davies while he was studying at the University of Warwick.

The initial focus of the business was to help students store furniture and possessions out of term time.

Fast forward five years and the company now employs nine staff, a fleet of removal lorries and trucks and has moved to its new home on Hermes Close, off Tachbrook Park Drive, Leamington Spa.

Mr Churchill-Davies, an engineering graduate, said turnover of the business had grown by 70 to 100% year-on-year since launching.

“We’ve grown organically over the last two to three years and reached a point where we needed large premises to achieve our growth potential,” he said.

More Than Removals and Storage now has 10,500 sq ft of storage space and is targeting 100% occupancy inside two years.

“We’ve filled around a third of the space already and if business continues to grow as it has, we’ll be on track to fill the space by 2018 and we can look to kick on further,” added Mr Churchill-Davies.

Law firm Wright Hassall acted for the company on the ten-year lease.

Andrew Jones, senior associate in the commercial property team at Wright Hassall, said: “The growth of the company is a fantastic success story of what can be achieved in a relatively short space of time and opening the new premises puts (the firm) in a strong position to continue the expansion of the business.”
