Dignity part-completes £43m acquisition deal

SUTTON Coldfield funeral directors, Dignity, has completed the acquisition of the freeholds for three crematoria.

The facilities – in Glasgow, Sheffield and Lichfield – were acquired by the group as part of a £43m acquisition deal in May. The deal was for a total of five sites.

The three freeholds have been acquired from Funeral Services Ltd, trading as Co-op Funeralcare.

The other two sites are leased from and managed on behalf of local authorities in Shropshire and Stockport.

Dignity said the acquisition of these facilities remained on track for completion at a later stage, pending consent from the relevant local authority and the transfer of the trade and assets of the location to a new entity.

All five crematoria are located in markets not served by existing Dignity crematoria.

Dignity, the UK’s only listed provider of funeral related services, said the deal would be settled in cash upon completion.
