Bowling alley looks to skittle the competition after £350,000 facelift

A BIRMINGHAM bowling alley has undergone a £350,000 facelift to improved its appeal to customers.

Work on the Hollywood Bowl at Park Way, Rubery, has seen a number of new features introduced, including a new Hollywood Diner, serving handcrafted burgers and shakes, which nestles alongside an American-style bar, which is also a new addition.

In true US style, food and drink is delivered directly to all 26 of the new-look centre’s bowling lanes while people play.

The improvements have also see the addition of four new and exclusive VIP lanes (see below), each named after a Hollywood icon – Marilyn Monroe, Han Solo, Audrey Hepburn and Elvis.

The four lanes can to roped off for private parties and the venue is hoping this may extend to corporate bookings.

Any of the centre’s 22 additional lanes can also be pre-booked, and in an attempt to make the venue more family-friendly, staff are on hand to set up ramps and in-lane bumpers that give children more of a chance of beating the adults.

Away from the bowling, the centre also has an amusement area featuring leading games such as Star Wars Pod Racer, as well as retro games like Crossy Road.

Mark Firkin, general manager of Hollywood Bowl, Birmingham said: “This is a massively exciting time for our centre – we’re getting a makeover that befits our glamourous name.”

To support the improvements, the centre has also recruited a number of new roles.
