Construction firm expands with new base in Birmingham

CONSTRUCTION firm Pick Everard has cemented its presence in the West Midlands with the opening of a new office in Birmingham.

The firm announced plans to expand into Birmingham earlier this year following a number of new contract wins across the region, and will this month open its new base in Snow Hill.

Managing partner, Duncan Green said that having a presence within Birmingham would help further enhance the company’s profile within the booming region and support its strategy for growth.

He said: “Opening an office in Birmingham was the next logical step for us as a firm. It is the UK’s second city and at the heart of the Midlands Engine. Not only that, but HS2 is just down the line, which will bring with it a host of exciting opportunities as we look to further develop the business.

“Broadening our client base within the West Midlands is a priority for us and we are demonstrating our ongoing commitment to the region by locating our office here. Being in the heart of the city means that we are better able service our clients from a local base, as well as adding to our national capabilities.

“We have already developed a strong and sustainable client base in the West Midlands, delivering a number of key projects including the £180m HMP Featherstone, one of the largest and most economical prisons in the UK, as well as a major retail and regeneration scheme in Walsall town centre.”

The independent construction consultancy’s growing portfolio in the region includes being a partner on the UK’s first Integrated Project Insurance (IPI) project in Dudley, which will see a new Centre for Advanced Building Technologies delivered at Dudley College, as part of the Government’s new IPI procurement model.

The Birmingham office will be led by director Ian Shaw.

He said: “This is a significant milestone for us and will really support our plans to further expand Pick Everard’s reach into the West Midlands, which is a very exciting place to be currently and the perfect location for our 11th UK office.

“This is a landmark achievement in our ongoing growth strategy, which falls within our 150th anniversary year, and we look forward to securing further contracts in the coming months, to build on our already strong portfolio.”

Pick Everard was first established by civil engineer and architect John Breedon Everard in 1866 in Leicester. After multiple expansions it became Pick Everard in 1991 and this year it celebrates its 150th anniversary with a series of celebrations and challenges involving its 500 plus employees, partners and contractors.
