Famous name commits to city’s future with new lease and 100 jobs

ONE of Wolverhampton’s biggest business names has been revealed as the latest tenant of the city’s new i10 building.

Tarmac’s Building Products division, part of the leading building materials and construction solutions business, will be occupying the 11,000 sq ft first floor of the £10.6m office development.

The deal means all three floors of the building have been fully let in just six months of the building being completed.

Tarmac has a long history with Wolverhampton, and has been looking for a suitable location for its Building Products, as well as maintaining a central location to serve its national network of operations.

It will employ around 100 staff at the site and will join water treatment specialist, Ovivo, and home builder and regeneration specialist, Countryside, as tenants.

Mark Joel, managing director, said: “The modern i10 facility is a great location for Tarmac’s Building Products divisional headquarters and offers a modern office environment.

“It has excellent public transport links for employees, as well as good connections to Tarmac’s corporate HQ near Birmingham International station.”

Cllr John Reynolds, Wolverhampton’s cabinet member for the city economy, said it was great news that a name so synonymous with the city had opted to commit to its future.

He also said that to have fully let the new building so quickly was an indication of the strong demand for quality office space in the city.

“The i10 development certainly has the wow factor and its location at the gateway to the city for people getting off the national transport network has been a major selling point,” he said.

“i10 has raised the bar for the provision of top grade office space in the city and the council is now looking at ways to develop more.”

Pubco Greene King – via its Hungry Horse brand, Superdrug and Kaspa’s Desserts have already filled four of the six ground floor retail units.

The wider Interchange scheme includes a new railway station and a Metro extension, which will include a new stop at the station.

Work has started on the refurbishment and extension of the railway station car park and the new bus station is already in use.
