4 signs you’re about to get sacked

With a bit of luck, you’ll have a little more notice and time than Michael Gove did before getting sacked from the Government last week.

But whether you choose to ignore them or just don’t realise they’re there, there are always subtle signs to warn us that our working days are numbered.

1. You have less to do

Whether you have less work, fewer shifts, or have been stripped of your responsibilities, the reason is often the same…you’re being let go, dismissed, discharged, lay off, replaced…

You may even notice your colleagues are now taking over your responsibilities and doing all the tasks you were too incompetent to complete.

2. Nobody is praising you

Gone are the happy days when you would receive praise for your hard work, now the only conversations you have with your manager are disciplinaries. Not only this, but your once stable relationship with your employer is deteriorating fast.

Now he’s circling your desk, watching your every move and saving the chirpy small talk for the permanent staff.

3. People have started distancing themselves

Colleagues can be nosy, intrusive creatures, often knowing exactly what’s going on before a decision has even been made. They can see the situation unfolding as you’re taken into long meetings with the boss and they begin to come to their own conclusions about your non-existent future at the company.

If they’re acting strangely around you, whispering or ignoring you, then it might be wise to start looking for another job.

4. You’re left out…of everything

Decisions, social events, conversations – whatever it is your input is no longer welcome. And when you are left out of everything, you may soon find yourself out of a job.
