1.25PM update: The motorway remains closed in both directions, with very heavy traffic southbound on the M6 from before junction 3, and northbound on the A14 back to junction 1. Traffic conditions are now only expected to return to normal by 5pm.
EMERGENCY services have shut the M6 between Coventry and Rugby after an accident which saw a vehicle cross the central reservation.
All lanes are closed between junctions two and one, with traffic quickly queuing back past junction three.
At 12.35pm Highways England was estimating it will take up to three hours to clear with traffic only returning to normal at around 3.45pm.
