40 firefighters tackled furniture factory fire

40 firefighters were called to tackle a “severe factory fire” in Tividale yesterday.

7 fire engines and a hydraulic platform were required to tackle the blaze at the industrial estate.

The fire hit the premises of Sprite Leisure, which manufactures restaurant and bar furniture.

West Midlands Fire Service were called at around 8.25am, and were at the scene for more than four hours.

Part of Hainge Road was closed and a decontamination unit was set up as a result of suspected asbestos in the roof.
