The 6 most popular destinations for UK’s wantaway workers

The outcome of the referendum last month has spurred tens of thousands of British jobseekers to consider working abroad, and perhaps unsurprisingly it is English-speaking countries dominating the most popular choices.

Research published by jobsite Indeed reveals the United States of America accounted for 30% of all outbound job searches made by the site’s UK users in the weeks after the vote.

Canada, which had been the fourth most popular overseas destination before the referendum, rose to second place with 13% of outbound job searches following the result.

Ireland sits third in the top countries Brits are looking to work in, attracting 9% of the outbound search, partly due to its recent economic growth and concentration of highly skilled roles – and its proximity to home. The top searches in Ireland were for the marketing, HR, engineering, transport and retail sectors.

Though the “I’m off!” response to Brexit has waned after the initial surge in the days after the vote, Indeed said the figures remain at a higher level than they were.
