Solicitors’ firm with disruptive model moves into Birmingham

THE commercial law firm which makes a virtue of its business model which is based on remote working and monthly payments has come to Birmingham.
Harper James Solicitors was founded in Sheffield in 2014 and has now opened an office in Waterloo Street, Birmingham. It plans to end the year with around 50 staff.
It claims to be able to charge up to 80% less than other firms because of its commercial model that keeps its overheads low and, as it is has an individual owner, does not create profits to be shared among equity partners.
Toby Harper, founder and chief executive of Harper James Solicitors, said: “The majority of our lawyers have either worked for the UK’s top 100, or in-house at large international organisations, and we’re able to pass on our expertise to businesses in Birmingham at a fraction of the cost due to our unique business model.”
The firm is seeking to specialise in high growth businesses and it already works with venture capital firm Midven, advanced technology company Aeristech and recipe website Whisk.com.
He added: “We’re very passionate and dedicated to meeting the needs of growth companies.”
