Mela hopes to be a record-breaker on Sunday

ONE of the largest festivals in the UK celebrating the South Asian community will take place in Birmingham this Sunday.
The Big John’s Birmingham Mela, now in its 16th year, is a free event that is expected to attract 40,000 people to Cannon Hill Park.
It will showcase food, art, culture and entertainment ranging from local groups to international artists, with Imran Khan headlining the main stage.
The event starts at 1pm with the main stage artists coming on from 4.30pm before the festival wraps up around 8pm.
The event has a fun fair, food court and bazaar and there is also going to be an attempt to break the world record for the biggest-ever Bollywood dance as organisers aim for more than 8,700 people to dance to Jai Ho at 2.30pm.
