Happy Days as second stage of Worcester business park fully let
A WEDDING vehicle and executive chauffeuring business founded by a former director of Morgan Cars has set up a new base in Worcester.
Happy Day Cars, which was started by former Morgan finance director Tim Whitworth, has taken a 3,532 sq ft new- build unit on phase two of St Modwen’s Great Western Business Park.
Mr Whitworth, who already runs a fleet of four vehicles, plans to utilise the extra space to enable himm to increase this to six.
His aim is to become established as the first choice for corporate chauffeuring and special occasions in the area.
He said: “I wanted a new build with great security and full insulation so we can operate from a clean, quality building that reflects the premium service we offer.”
Happy Day Cars has joined neighbours Crown Paints, Alliance Healthcare, Rexel UK, BFS Group and Benchmarx on the six-unit phase.
Halls Commercial partner Richard Tomlinson said with the six-unit second phase now complete, work would start on 11 more units for phase three of the park, which will total 64,000 sq ft – including an 15,000 sq ft unit proposed for Herefordshire and Worcestershire Group Training Association.
A 17,700 sq ft unit for building materials firm Travis Perkins is already under construction.
Developer St. Modwen secured planning consent from Worcester City Council for the next phase just before Christmas on hopes it could deliver up to 140 jobs.
Mr Tomlinson said: “The full occupation of phase two highlights the growing need for this type of development in the Midlands and will kickstart the work on the third phase, in which we already have good interest even before construction starts.”
Phase two also included the 20,000 sq ft fire station for Hereford & Worcester Fire & Rescue Service, which the service relocated to in May 2015.
Mr Tomlinson said Halls had already seen an increase in enquiries, with business owners looking to take on additional space.
“This additional development is much needed to continue to attract inward investment and generate new jobs,“ he said. “It is also a sign that confidence has returned to the Worcester property market.”
