£140m-turnover group adds Castle Bromwich site

INDEPENDENT builders’ merchant EH Smith has continued its investment in its branch network with the acquisition of a site in Castle Bromwich.
The £140m-turnover group has bought the former Redcroft DIY site which it will redevelop and open as an EH Smith Local branch.
The Shirley-based group already has 13 locations, predominantly in the West Midlands.
Sean Furlong, EH Smith’s sales director, said: “The acquisition highlights that, despite the concerns in the building industry following the Brexit vote, EH Smith is continuing to invest in its staff, the industry and the local community, and is confident that the future for construction is bright.”
The investment in a new site in Castle Bromwich follows a wider investment in EH Smith’s existing branches, including recent extensive refurbishments at its stores in Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire, and Witham in Essex.
The Castle Bromwich site is scheduled to open in early 2017.
