Property company maintains strong run with clutch of new deals

PROPERTY company Harris Lamb has kept up the momentum of its recent run of success with the sale of a plot of land in Worcestershire to a housing developer.

The firm has arranged the sale of the 13-acre plot to developer Amber Residential Property on behalf of Severn Trent. The terms were not disclosed.

The house-builder intends to redevelop the site, off Newtown Road, to build 61 new homes.

Andrew Lamb, director of Harris Lamb, who oversaw the deal, said there had been a significant amount of interest in the site due to its attractive location.

“This particular site was in high demand with developers thanks to its prime location – the land is close to the former Tolladine Golf Course and has fantastic views – and the sale was completed in less than six weeks,” he said.

The site has already been awarded outline planning consent for the new properties, which will include 24 affordable units consisting of four one-bedroom, 12 two-bedroom, four three-bedroom and four four-bedroom homes.

“Demand for residential land has surged over the past 18 months as confidence has returned as the sector; something that initiatives such as the Government’s Help To Buy scheme and developers’ commitment to provide affordable units have supported,” added Mr Lamb.

Construction at the site is expected to start later this year.

Prior to securing the sale of the Newtown Road site, the firm had also sold an eight-acre site off Station Road in Salford Priors to Bovis Homes for a 60-house development on behalf of Alamo, a 15-acre site in Stone, Staffordshire on behalf of Nova Capital Management to Taylor Wimpey for a residential development of 215 new homes and a 10-acre land parcel in Chesterfield to Avant Homes for a 91-plot development on behalf of GKN.
