Multi-million pound refinancing secures care group’s future

A COVENTRY-based adult social care business has completed a £32m refinancing to secure the future of its specialist care services.
Swanton Care and Community, which has its head office on Coventry’s Middlemarch Business Park, says it will now push ahead with its plans to “deliver the highest quality specialist care services right across the UK”.
The business has been through a period of change, with a new management team appointed in 2014 – a year that saw a huge impairment cost cause a £16.2m pre-tax loss in its accounts.
The business has 28 care facilities across the UK and employs more than 800 people.
Swanton Care and Community chief executive Dr Alison Rose-Quirie said the funding, provided by an RBS-led syndicate, marked the next chapter in the company’s development.
She said: “The agreement secures the long-term future of Swanton Care and Community and assures that we are well placed to continue to provide the highest quality, person-centred care for our service users right across the UK.
“In the last 12 months Swanton has gone from strength to strength and we are now being recognised as one of the leading providers of high quality adult social care.
“Here in Coventry we now have our full team in place so, in addition to the new finance, we are well placed to push ahead with our growth plans to develop our supported living and domiciliary care services and deliver some exciting new progressive neurological rehabilitation services.”
Swanton works with people with autism, learning difficulties, acquired brain injuries and complex care needs. Its services include registered care homes, care homes with nursing, community based supported living and domiciliary care.
