New entry for region in Good Food Guide top 50

THERE is a new entry from the West Midlands in the Good Food Guide’s top 50, which has been announced today.
Simpsons in Edgbaston has been ranked 35th in the respected guide.
It is placed just ahead of the region’s only other entry in the list, Adam’s in Birmingham which is 41st.
Adam’s, run by chef-patron Adam Stokes, moved into a new home on Waterloo Street earlier this year having previously been in Bennett’s Hill.
Simpsons and Adam’s are two of Birmingham’s five Michelin-starred restaurants.
Nottingham’s Restaurant Sat Bains is third, behind Restaurant Nathan Outlaw in Cornwall and L’Enclume in Cumbria, which tops the list for the fourth consecutive year.
Fourth is Pollen Street Social, which is the highest ranked restaurant in London, although the capital dominates the list, providing nine of the top 20.

Chef director Luke Tipping said: “The past twelve months have been some of the most exciting and inspiring in my career, the refurbishment didn’t just refresh the building but the team’s motivation, passion and creativity.

“It almost feels that Simpsons is a new restaurant now and these accolades have proven we’re heading in the right direction.

“Having enjoyed a few days working with the team at L’Enclume earlier this year it’s great to see them maintain the top spot too – I don’t think cooking in this country has ever been better!”
