£1m restaurant investment spent with Gusto

RESTAURANT group Gusto is to open its first Birmingham restaurant next month after completing a £1m investment in the site.
The Italian restaurant will launch on the ground floor of the Grand Hotel development on Colmore Row. The 130-cover restaurant will have an outside terrace that seats 40 people.
Sue Crimes, managing director of Gusto, said: “We’ve had our sights set on Birmingham for some time and are excited to be spearheading the ongoing food and drink renaissance of the area.
“Colmore Business District is fast growing its reputation as both a high quality business and leisure location and we are thrilled to be a key part of that development.
“There is currently a burgeoning restaurant scene in the district and we believe our restaurant ethos meets directly with the demographics of area.”
Gusto opened its first site in Cheshire in 2005 and a management buyout in 2014, backed by Palatine Private Equity, put it on its current growth path.
Birmingham will open on September 23, and follows recent launches in Leamington Spa and Lytham. It will be the group’s 15th restaurant and it is targeting having 26 within five years.
The chain, which has annual revenues of £28m, employs around 600 people and is recruiting 60 people for its Birmingham operation.
