Coventry City’s MD departs after 10 months

WITH the shortness of tenure usually associated with football managers, Coventry City’s managing director has left the club after 10 months in charge.
Chris Anderson took over last November, replacing Steve Wagott who had been chief executive for 14 months.
The club is currently bottom of League One, without a win after eight league matches.
However it is the ongoing turmoil off the pitch which is causing greater concern, with uncertainty around its long-term future at the Ricoh Arena – where it is tenants of Wasps rugby union club – as well as problems with the lease for its academy at the Alan Higgs Centre.
Mr Anderson will be returning to his role at football industry advisers Anderson Sally.
He said: “I came to CCFC to help with the ongoing process of laying the right foundations for the football club on the commercial and football sides.
“Solid progress has been made on both counts, and I would like to thank everyone associated with the club – and especially the club’s supporters and my fellow board directors and colleagues for all their support.”
Coventry City chairman Tim Fisher added: “We would like to put on record our thanks to Chris for his hard work and diligence since coming to the club. Going forward, the club will continue to be actively managed by the club’s board of directors, with technical, operations, and commercial director roles all reporting to the board.”
