The Apprentice winner set to reveal the secrets of his success

THE most successful candidate ever to emerge from The Apprentice television series is set to reveal the secret of his success to would-be entrepreneurs in the Midlands.

Mark Wright is one of the guest speakers at this year’s National Franchise Exhibition, which takes place at the NEC between September 30 and October 1.

He will outline how he went from having only £100 to his name to earning £1.7m in his start-up’s first year.

Mr Wright hit the big time in 2014 when his business plan for an SEO company won a £250,000 investment from Lord Sugar. Two years on, Climb Online is on track to turnover £4m in the coming financial year.

Before appearing on the reality show, the Aussie had left home to travel and ended up in London with just £100 in his back pocket. He developed the business plan for Climb Online but was turned down for a loan by the banks due to his citizenship.

When a colleague told him about The Apprentice, he auditioned on a whim and went on to win the show. The savvy 27-year-old caught Lord Sugar’s attention when he promised he could get businesses to the top of Google’s rankings.

He said: “I know every year The Apprentice winners say this, but I truly think Lord Sugar and I share a lot of similarities. Whilst my business is digital, the core principles of it are rooted in tried and tested business tools – strong customer service, low overheads and a good quality product so you create a loyal customer base.

“These are the same ethics Lord Sugar had in mind when creating his famous company Amstrad. I’ll be demonstrating how this works in my keynote at The National Franchise Exhibition.

“The SEO sector is now a very crowded market but I think my straight forward business acumen and ability to explain exactly what my business does in one sentence is what set me apart from the other SEO companies that had previously approached Lord Sugar for investment.”
