Coventry council strengthens LEP presence

TWO senior Coventry councillors have been appointed to the board of the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership.

Jim O’Boyle and Abdul Khan have joined the 16-strong board of the CWLEP, which works with private and public sector organisations to drive economic growth and create jobs across the area.

Cllr O’Boyle is Coventry City Council cabinet member for jobs and regeneration. He is also a former Peugeot trade union convenor.

Cllr Khan is deputy leader of Coventry City Council, a ward councillor for Foleshill and chairs the Coventry Police, Crime and Community Safety Board. He is a qualified solicitor by profession with an office in Coventry and is also a magistrate sitting on the Warwickshire bench.

The two appointments, follow the addition of Sarah Windrum to the CWLEP board. The founder and CEO of Warwickshire technology company The Emerald Group joined the board in June.

Jonathan Browning, chairman of the CWLEP, said: “Abdul and Jim are both extremely active Coventry City councillors and their experience will be important in supporting our quest to drive growth and create further wealth for the benefit of all in Coventry and Warwickshire.”
