Property Appointments: Bilfinger GVA; CALA Homes; Lodders

REAL estate adviser Bilfinger GVA has appointed hotels specialist Philip Gibson as an Associate within the Retail, Hotels and Leisure team in the Midlands.

Moving from Lambert Smith Hampton in Bristol, Mr Gibson has extensive experience negotiating sales, acquisitions and lettings for some of the largest national operators, including Little Chef, Holiday Inn and the administrators of the Real Hotel Company in addition to acting for a variety of independent operators of hotels, golf courses and caravan parks.

The appointment is part of Bilfinger GVA’s drive to meet the demand for property services in Birmingham’s burgeoning hotels and hospitality sector.

Mr Gibson said: “Hotels, alongside retail and leisure, are facing increasing levels of demand in Birmingham and the wider area and it’s a great time to be involved in the city. With the impending arrival of HS2, the relocation of HSBC, and the continued growth of events venues like the ICC and NEC, Birmingham will be the place to be in the coming years.”

Ian Stringer, Regional Senior Director in the Midlands, said: “We’ve worked with Philip in a number of guises in the past and were keen that he joined us here in the Midlands. The region is going through a key period of growth, with the hotel and leisure industry one of the main beneficiaries.

“As part of our focus on the full cradle to grave advice on major mixed use developments, we are looking to expand our involvement in the growth of the hotel and leisure sector in Birmingham and the wider region, and Philip’s appointment is in part a key response to that objective.”
