Speculative Redditch business park full as demand for space soars

A WORCESTERSHIRE business park is almost full following the relocation of a telecoms firm.

R4telecom has taken the last unit on Hepworth Park, Redditch’s first speculative industrial complex in almost ten years.

The firm, which has agreed a 10-year lease on 1,678 sq ft of space in Unit 5, has been operating since 2003 and provides a broad spectrum of technical and operational support and consultancy services. Its clients include national operators, mobile network providers, international operators, police forces, utilities and system integrators.

Employing over 20 people, it has moved from Solihull.

Its arrival means that apart from some isolated first floor office space, the seven-unit site is now fully occupied.

Ron Edwards, founder and owner of R4telecom said: “Our warehouse was about five miles away from our offices and travelling between them was not ideal. This allows us to have warehouse, offices and a workshop under the same roof. We looked at Solihull, we looked at Coventry but there is a great choice of business units in Redditch. Things are working out nicely. It has met our needs perfectly.”

The business park, developed by Fox Industrial Services, is also home to a farrier, beauty business and marketing agency.

John Truslove was sole agent for the development and it has secured all the lettings.

John Truslove director Ian Parker said: “It was in a good location, it was designed to be very flexible, adaptable to individual requirements, with easy access to the M42 and M5, and addressed a particular demand.

“It was a much-needed development for the town, where the lack of supply of new commercial premises has been starting to have a detrimental effect on jobs with key employers being forced to look outside the area for suitable premises.

“Hopefully the success of Hepworth Park and the rent levels achieved will encourage other developers to consider similar speculative schemes.”
