Pubco raises a glass to new football partnership

WOLVERHAMPTON pubco Marston’s has signed a new sponsorship deal with League One football club Walsall FC.

The sponsorship deal, backed by the firm’s leading Black Country beer brand Banks’s, marks a 20-year partnership between the football club and the company.

Richard Westwood, managing director, Marston’s Beer Company and regional sales manager, Alastair Robinson joined Walsall FC chief executive, Stefan Gamble and players Kory Roberts and James O’Connor at Bescot Stadium – better known as Banks’s Stadium – to commemorate the sponsorship deal.

Mr Robinson said: “We are delighted to be in a position to continue to build the partnership with the club where our local brand fits perfectly.”

As part of the deal, Banks’s will continue to be the main beer supplier for the stadium, offering best sellers such as classic Banks’s Original (Mild) and Amber Bitter.

The Bescot stadium will continue to bear the “Banks’s” lettering at its entrance, with the brand’s updated logo installed throughout the arena.

Stefan Gamble, chief executive, Walsall FC, said: “We’ve always enjoyed a close relationship with Banks’s and as one of our key commercial partners, their support for the football club has been fantastic over the years.

“Equally as important, the Banks’s brand reflects some of the core values which we hold dear and this renewal is a welcomed step towards further cementing their association with Walsall Football Club.”
