Deadline looming for Signature Awards

SET against the uncertain economic and political climates, the 2017 Signature Awards are set to be one of the most interesting in the event’s history.

Organisers said that despite the shocks endured post-Brexit, the West Midlands continued to prosper and with the expansion of devolved powers and May’s Mayoral election, the region had a great deal to look forward to even if much of it was a leap in the dark.

The Signature Awards, now in their third year, attracts nominees from all over the UK. The event, which takes place on February 10, will be set against this backdrop and guests will be offered an insight into what the future may hold as three of the candidates standing for the Mayoral election will be attending.

Entries for the awards are already coming in and event founder Ninder Johal – a past president of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce and board member of the Black Country LEP – said he was impressed by the quality of the nominations to date.

“Despite the uncertainty in the business community on the future of its relationship with the EU, there is still an element of confidence in the growth projections of the UK economy and it is in this vein that I see a similar pattern in the quality and quantity of the submissions to date,” he said.

Deadline for entries for the awards in December 16.

“There is still a couple of weeks to go and I would urge those who see an exceptional individual or business to put their names forward so that we can collectively celebrate the quality that the UK can rightly boast about. It is so important that we recognise both those who create wealth and those who enable the process of wealth creation to occur. The professional sector play such an important role in both the domestic and overseas markets,” he added.

“We have secured a fantastic keynote speaker who understands what it is like to be a world class leader and how to motivate those around them to perform to an even higher level – we will be revealing the name in due course.”

The Signature Awards will take place at Edgbaston Stadium and has already attracted sponsors including Cobra Beer, East End Foods, FBC Manby Bowdler, Birmingham City University, Vision Print and Rational FX.

The categories include: Excellence in Finance, Excellence in Law, Excellence in Banking, Young Professional of the Year, Excellence in land, Architecture and Property Development, Excellence in Business, Excellence in the Professions for Owner Practices, the Diversity Award and Lifetime Achievement.
