Traffic Alert: Twin accidents bring long delays to the M6

All lanes have been reopened northbound but there are still long queues in the area with congestion back to Junction 4a, the exit for the M42 and Coleshill.

Likewise southbound; all lanes have reopened but the lingering congestion is still causing tailbacks back to Junction 11.

DRIVERS have been warned of long delays on the M6 around Birmingham this morning following twin accidents on opposite sides of the carriageway.

There are currently two lanes closed on the southbound section between Junction 7 (Great Barr) and 6 (A38M Aston Expressway) with reports of delays of an hour and congestion stretching back to Junction 11 at Cannock.

There is also stationary traffic on the M6 northbound between Junctions 6 and 7 with a rolling road block in place following an accident.

Drivers have been warned to expect delays on all routes with the rush-hour likely to be extended.
