Christmas all wrapped up at Grand Central as venue aims to boost cancer charity

DON’T feel like getting tangled in sellotape and Christmas wrapping paper this festive season? You won’t have to as this weekend Grand Central will be offering a gift wrapping service and what’s more, its all for a great cause.

For one weekend only, the shopping destination will be teaming up with professional gift packaging suppliers, BoxMart to wrap and box up your gifts in return for a donation to Teenage Cancer Trust.

The charity – which supports young people with cancer aged between 13 and 24 – has three of its 28 units located in Birmingham at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Young Person Unit, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital.

Charity activist, Stephen Sutton was just one of the many teenagers affected by cancer, having battled with the disease from the age of 15. Though he died in 2014, the teenager continued to inspire and raise money for the charity with his overall funds totaling more than £5.6million.

With close connections to Stephen Sutton the BoxMart team were keen to support his cause and help others in his situation.

Stephen’s mum and ambassador for Teenage Cancer Trust, Jane Sutton added: “Christmas can be a difficult time, particularly for teenagers and young adults with cancer, as well as their families and friends.

“All donations no matter how large or small will help to continue Stephen’s legacy and support Teenage Cancer Trust’s target of raising £80million by 2020.”

Jane will be helping the BoxMart volunteers opposite Kiehl’s and Cath Kidston offering a variety of gift wrapping options to shoppers.

General Manager for Grand Central Jonathan Cheetham said “We are delighted to be helping raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust and support such a magnificent charity.

“Customer service is our number one priority at Grand Central and we’re really pleased to partner with BoxMart volunteers to offer this gift boxing service to our customers, which we hope will help to make Christmas shopping that little bit easier.”
