Wolverhampton pub creates 65 new jobs after £1m revamp

A WOLVERHAMPTON pub has undergone a million pound plus investment, creating 65 new jobs in the process.

The Berry Brook Farm, on Cannock Road, is part of the Farmhouse Inns chain, owned by Greene King.

The Suffolk-based company expanded its footprint in the West Midlands when it acquired the Spirit Pub company last year in a £760m deal. Spirit was a spin-off from Punch Taverns, which ironically is the subject of a current takeover.

Greene King has invested heavily in its estate to build up its brand and the family-friendly Farmhouse Inns chain is a key part of its strategy.

The chain relies on a carvery offering to boost its food business – a tried and proven solution. It also boasts a specialist team of onsite bakers, producing homemade cakes – one of the main areas where the new jobs have been created.

Berry Brook Farm general manager, Andrew Holmes, said: “We’re incredibly excited to have undergone such a huge transformation. It’s great to be able to provide an improved food offering, including carvery, freshly baked cakes and breakfast for local guests.”
