Care company mounts recruitment drive to support expansion

A HEREFORDSHIRE care company has launched a major recruitment drive as it looks to continue its expansion.

Kemble at Home, formerly Kemble Care, is looking to recruit more staff as it continues to increase its client base across the county.

The Hereford firm is bucking the national trend for care companies, many of which struggle to retain their staff.

It is planning to provide more general support services to families, alongside its current role of providing care to nearly 200 clients across Herefordshire.

The independent family-run company, was formed in 1993 and currently provides care, respite and support services to adults within their own homes.

This includes the elderly and those with very complex care needs.

Jenny Jones, managing director of visiting care at Kemble at Home, said: “While it is fair to say that the social care sector generally is struggling to hold on to staff, we have a high retention of personnel and are delighted with that.

“The average turnover of staff for industries across the UK is about 15% whereas in the social care industry it is more than 25%. This is very high in comparison to other walks of life.

“When staff turnover is high, organisations and clients can suffer and experienced staff can be put under greater pressure.”

She said Kemble at Home did not have this problem, in fact it had a strong track record in retaining staff.

“More than half our staff have been with us more than three years, while 11 carers have been here 10 years and some more than 18 years,” she said.

“It clearly shows our staff are happy working for the company and it is reassuring for our clients to have the same carers going into their homes and seeing to their needs rather than an endless stream of new faces who may only be there a matter of weeks.”

The firm is looking to recruit care assistants and personal assistants in Hereford, Leominster, Ledbury, Ross-on-Wye and over the border in Monmouthshire.
