Dental surgeon all smiles as bank backs expansion plan

A DENTAL surgeon is targeting expansion after securing funding support for a new acquisition.

Ramy Magdy has acquired Abbey Dental Practice in Pershore after being backed by a six-figure deal from Royal Bank of Scotland.

His plans to grow the practice have included taking on two new members of staff.

Abbey Dental is a private practice with a proportion of Denplan patients. As well as traditional dentistry, it will now offer tooth whitening, implants and smile makeovers. A hygienist will soon join the practice to assist with the prevention of gum disease and they will be joined by a trainee dentist to support the two existing receptionists/nurses.

The practice offers the potential to expand into the upstairs floor, which Mr Magdy said he fully intended to utilise in the long term to extend the number of surgeries available. Changes set to be introduced over the next six months include investing in a computer system to co-ordinate patient bookings online.

Mr Magdy, who gained associate experience in Somerset, Cheltenham and Birmingham after qualifying in 2005, said: “I was always driven to achieve ownership and with the support and guidance from Royal Bank of Scotland this was more than possible, alongside some self-funding. Abbey Dental felt right and it was an opportunity not to miss given its huge potential to extend over the top floor.

“For now, I’m looking forward to getting to know my patients and introducing more services so we can become a one stop shop for the Pershore community, assisting them with first class oral health care.”

Paul Belson, Relationship Manager at Royal Bank of Scotland, said: “Ramy is one of the most ambitious dentists I have worked with and he has all the attributes to make Abbey Dental a huge success. We wish him all the very best and look forward to working in partnership as he grows the business.”
