Wasps buzzing as Ricoh prepares to stage European Champions Cup game

COVENTRY-based Wasps stages one of the most important games tomorrow since its relocation to the Ricoh Arena.

The team takes on French side Toulouse in a crunch European Champions Cup game. The match, which kicks off at 3pm, is the penultimate game of the tournament’s group stages and with both teams tied on 13 points in Pool Two, the winning team will be perfectly poised to reach the quarter finals.

The game comes in the wake of Wasps setting a new fortnightly attendance record.

The club has welcomed over 54,000 fans to the Ricoh Arena in the space of two weeks – 26,292 watched the 40-26 win over Bath on Christmas Eve, followed by 27,930 at last Sunday’s 22-16 victory over local rivals Leicester Tigers.

“Our supporters are some of the best around, and we’ll need them more than ever against Toulouse. It’s a big game and the supporters can play a key role in helping the team over the line in a match that will decide who makes it out of our pool and into the quarter finals.”

Fans attending the Toulouse game will also be treated to a bumper Wasps Nest Fan Village, including the Wasps Interactive Zone, inflatable pitch, kick-at-goal, live band, face painting, Wasps Netball, bars, big screens and the Wasps carvery.
