Scheme for 2,000 homes to go before planners

PLANS to create a community village north of Stafford that have been a decade in the making have been submitted to Stafford Council.

The 430-acre site at Beaconside would have 2,000 homes, a primary and secondary school, two community centres and a care centre.

Jon Hickton, managing director of developer Maximus, said: “What we are envisaging here is the creation of a new community with supporting health centres, schools and shops, as well as green space for recreation and leisure.

“This application for 2,000 homes goes a long way to meeting Stafford Borough’s target of 7,200 homes by 2031.”

Outline planning permission is being sought for the scheme, which is off junction 14 of the M6 motorway, and is part of the Northern Urban Extension to Stafford. The Beaconside site would have the proposed HS2 railway line alongside one edge of the development.

Maximus is a privately-owned property development and investment group which has also been responsible for Bromsgrove office park Topaz, the Quartz Point business park at Solihull, and Worcester’s speculative office scheme Wildwood Triangle.
