Federico Fellini’s Oscar-winning La Strada is one of the all-time masterpieces of world cinema. This new musical adaptation is directed by Olivier Award nominee Sally Cookson (Jane Eyre and Peter Pan National Theatre, Hetty Feather West End) and boasts a beautiful new score by Benji Bower, with songs performed by an international cast of actor musicians. La Strada ‘The Road’, a metaphor for life, is a deeply impassioned tale of love and loss, set against the backdrop of a country still reeling from the devastating effects of the Second World War.

The original buoy band, the Fisherman’s Friends are back with a vengeance, getting ready to hit the road on tour in January and February with full catch of new material and some old favourites as well.

Location: Birmingham REP

In the run up to Christmas, three families are placed into cramped temporary accommodation. A middle-aged man and his elderly mum, a young family with a baby on the way, a newly arrived woman from Sudan. Strangers. Forced together. No space is personal. In this new play by Alexander Zeldin, written through a devising process, the audience are invited to bear witness to an intimate story of family love. Alexander Zeldin’s previous work includes the critically acclaimed, ‘raw’ (Financial Times) and ‘unforgettable’ (The Times) Beyond Caring.

5. Model tractor showModel tractor show
Date: Sunday February 12
Location: Warwickshire Exhibition Centre, Leamington Spa

The Model Tractor, Plant & Construction Show is returning to the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre this weekend for the six year. Visitors will be treated to displays featuring scratch built, customised and converted models; dioramas; and machinery including fantastic competition entries. There will also be exciting live action from Tamiya Truckin whose members will be demonstrating and driving their 1/14 scale radio controlled models on a roadway system. Full sized vintage tractors will be on display as well, courtesy of the Warwick Tractor & Vintage Machinery Society.
