West Midlands CBI reveals new vice chairman

The CBI in the West Midlands has appointed a leading Coventry businessman as its new West Midlands vice-chairman.

Jonathan Duck is CEO of Amtico International and will be vice-chairman of the body during 2017, before becoming regional chairman next January.

Amtico International is an export-led manufacturer of design flooring and is one of the largest manufacturing employers in Coventry.  Originally part of Courtaulds, Amtico was bought out by its management team and private equity in 1995, conducted a secondary buyout in 2006, and since 2012 has been part of US-based flooring manufacturer Mannington Mills.

Mr Duck said: “I am privileged to be asked to serve in this role and look forward to representing the West Midlands region and the interests of its companies, at a time when the role of the CBI as the voice of business could not be more important.’’

Sara Fowler, current CBI regional chair said: “The regional network plays a vital role in the CBI’s representation and policy-making and Jonathan’s substantial experience, coupled with his enthusiasm and commitment, will ensure the West Midlands helps shape a better environment for business.  I very much look forward to working with Jonathan in his capacity as vice-chairman in 2017 and chairman in 2018 and 2019.”

Richard Butler, CBI West Midlands regional director, said: “Jonathan is a well-known and well respected businessman who is passionate about business in the West Midlands.  These are crucial times for UK businesses and it is doubly important that a strong regional business voice is heard at the heart of the debate with Government and other key opinion formers which I know Jonathan will provide.  I very much look forward to working with him.”
