Lapdancing club wins licensing battle

A Birmingham lapdancing club has secured the renewal of its licence despite objections from residents living nearby.

The operators of the Legs 11 venue in Broad Street, Clear Blue Sky Thinking, had applied to Birmingham City Council for the renewal of its Sexual Entertainment Venue (SEV) Licence.

However, residents had opposed the move saying the club was not a suitable business to operate so close to homes.

Since the original licence was granted, the club has undergone minor changes to its exterior signage, however, the council’s licensing and public protection committee agreed that the changes were consistent with the usual requirements.

Councillors agreed to the renewal of the licence without any new conditions being added.

A report to the committee had stated that lapdancing, pole dancing, table dancing, strip shows, erotic and exotic dancing, and burlesque dancing would all take part inside the club.

The opening hours of the club remain unchanged with 24-hour operation, Monday to Sunday.

The objectors had been invited to attend yesterday’s hearing but chose not to be present.
