Wasps out to sting the opposition after securing new JLR deal

A Coventry sports team has secured a new sponsorship deal from one of the city’s best known businesses.

Wasps Netball, who will play in the Vitality Netball Superleague, have signed a deal with Jaguar Land Rover that will see the manufacturer become the team’s official main partner and kit sponsor.

The new kit reflects the black and gold of the Wasps brand – best known from the Premier League rugby side – and be produced by Gilbert. The team will wear the kit throughout the forthcoming Superleague season.

The University of Warwick has also been announced as a team partner, while DS Smith has enhanced its current partnership with Wasps Rugby by extending the support to the netball team. All three organisations will feature on the new kit.

David Armstrong, Group CEO of Wasps, said: “This is a historic moment for netball in the West Midlands.

“Jaguar Land Rover will be one of the biggest club partners in the Superleague and we hope that working alongside businesses such as theirs we can really raise the profile of netball in the UK.

“We’re also grateful to the University of Warwick for becoming our official training base and providing top class facilities to the team.

“We are trying to build a winning club here and having these great companies supporting us in a variety of ways is crucial to achieving that.”

This move sees JLR extend its connection with the Wasps brand as it is already one of the partners of the rugby team.

Mark Cameron, Experiential Marketing Director at JLR, said: “We’re delighted to be joining forces with the Midlands’ newest professional sports team.”

Wasps Netball was formed in June 2016, and since then Director of Netball Tamsin Greenway has assembled a squad of international experience and youth as the club looks to challenge for the top end of the Superleague.

The squad will wear their new kit for the first time tomorrow (February 21) when they take on Sirens at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena.
