Roadworks threaten months of disruption at Birmingham Airport

Passengers heading into Birmingham Airport from today (Monday) are set to face months of disruption as a new programme of roadworks begins.

A series of resurfacing projects and traffic management measures on internal roads within the airport complex could cause delays.

The programme of works is being carried out now to develop the airport’s passenger drop-off facilities ahead of the peak summer season.

From today, Lane 1 of Airport Way will be closed between the Bird Island roundabout and the Hermes roundabout. The restrictions will apply until Friday May 19.

From Monday March 13 until Saturday April 29, Lane 1 will be closed on Concorde Road between the Hermes roundabout and the Drop & Go exit.

The footway/cycleway along Airport Way will also be closed as part of the improvements and users will be directed through Car Park 5 for the duration of the works.

The airport said traffic management along Airport Way and Concorde Road would be monitored throughout the works to ensure the impact is mitigated.

It has apologised for any inconvenience caused by the works and has advised people travelling from the airport to allow extra time for their journeys.
