The Global Innovation Index 2016 shows the UK in third place in relation to “innovation quality” which is a top-level indicator looking at the calibre of universities, number of scientific publications and international patent filings.

It was also recognised by the CBI Innovation Survey 2016 that 17% of companies plan to increase innovation expenditure in the UK in light of Brexit.

To assist local companies, the Black Country Growth Hub is challenging entrepreneurs, managers and leaders to consider what innovation can bring to their business by launching the first Black Country Inspiring Innovation Event on Friday March 17.

Keynote speaker at the event is Paul Sloane, a recognised expert on innovation and the author of over 25 books.  Mr Sloane will explore what is impeding business innovation and will deliver some hard hitting messages. He will be innovating, inspiring and provoking businesses to think outside the box and will be sharing practical techniques for them to take away.

“Implementing best practice is copying yesterday, innovation is designing tomorrow,” he says.

Taking place at the Molineux Football Stadium in Wolverhampton, this is a great opportunity to discover how to become more innovative and how innovation can help your business.

If you are looking for expertise and support; funding for your new product/service or advice on developing your new idea and routes to market then this is the event for you. The event is open to all Black Country businesses no matter what size or stage they are at.

Sarah Hough, Growth Hub Development Manager, said: “We will be explaining the range of support available to help businesses with their innovation priorities and there will be opportunity to discuss their individual needs with representatives from the support projects. The whole aim of Growth Hubs is to make life easier for businesses to access relevant support and enable them to make informed decisions to achieve business growth.

Delegates attending can benefit from some special offers from Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club including discounted hospitality packages.

This event is free but businesses must register via www.bcgrowthhub.com/inspiring-innovation as places are limited.
