Wheels firm rolls into new base in Warwickshire

A specialist automotive supplier has expanded operations with the launch of a new facility in Warwickshire.

Weller Wheels is the only specialist low-volume steel wheel producer in Europe. It serves the classic car market and has even worked with the producers of the last James Bond film, Spectre, supplying specialist wheels for Land Rover Defenders used in the movie.

The company, which is also active in the motorsport sector, is launching a new sales, marketing and distribution complex in Stratford-upon-Avon.

The move follows a series of new orders, one being a contract to supply the AA with a ‘Multi-Fit’ spare wheel which is carried in the breakdown organisation’s entire UK-wide fleet of patrol vans.

It also works with Silverstone supplying the F1 racing circuit’s experience days and with Land Rover conversion specialist, Khan.

Alan Lowe, managing director, said: “We were at the point where Weller Wheels was starting to outgrow the production facility in Redditch and needed a support site.

“Our ambition is to develop into a global brand offering British made steel wheels to the worldwide market place. We are starting to build a lifestyle brand and have designed a new clothing range to complement the wheels.”

Aided by the commercial property team at agents SDL Bigwood, the company has moved into Unit A2 on the town’s Precision Business Centre. It has agreed a three-year lease on the 4,900 sq ft unit.

James Carver, of SDL Bigwood’s commercial agency team, said: “The unit Weller Wheels chose is in a prominent position in close proximity to Stratford-upon-Avon train station and Stratford-upon-Avon College.”
