National restaurant chain signs up to £30m leisure development

National restaurant chain, Nando’s has signed a 15-year lease to become the latest big name addition to Strateford-upon-Avon’s £30m Bell Court scheme.

The Portuguese-inspired restaurant will occupy a 2,500 sq ft unit overlooking the central courtyard at the development, with additional outdoor seating.

The unit will be handed over to Nando’s for fit out in the next couple of months, with the aim of opening in summer 2017.

John Stacey, Asset Management Director at UK & European Investments, said: “Securing the right mix of tenants is key to ensuring the long term success of Bell Court. Popular brands such as Nando’s are a fantastic addition to the scheme, perfectly complimenting the operator line-up that we have already secured.

“We are delighted to have them join us at Bell Court and I’m sure that a lot of local residents will be very excited by this announcement.”

Nando’s will be joining a range of other restaurants, including Byron, Miller & Carter and All Bar One.

It was announced last week that the cinema unit (which will be the anchor tenant at Bell Court) has been handed over to Everyman, with the aim of opening in June.

The deal was completed by Time Retail Partners and Nashbond on behalf of UK & European Investments.

Bell Court comprises over 70,000 sq ft of retail, restaurant and leisure space. Over the last 18 months the site has undergone extensive redevelopment with the aim of becoming a top retail and leisure destination within the town.

Many of the buildings have been remodelled and vast improvements have been made to the public realm, including feature lighting throughout the development, new brighter and more welcoming entrances, high quality landscaping and wooden seating, a living wall and the introduction of public open space for events and outdoor entertainment.
