Dave Copeland, director, CWA

Birmingham civil and structural engineering consultancy, CWA, has been appointed to deliver a £30m data centre in the heart of London.

The city centre-based consultancy has secured the contract to carry out civil and structural engineering work on a new 1,800 sq m data centre for Interxion – a leading European provider of carrier and cloud-neutral data centre services.

The data centre campus – located between the Square Mile and Tech City – has become a strategic location for businesses and is home to major players in the financial services, digital media, connectivity and cloud services sectors.

The new facility – known as LON3 – is Interxion’s third data centre on the campus, and is scheduled to open next year.

CWA director Dave Copeland said: “We are pleased to be involved in such an exciting and intricate project that will provide critical data centre infrastructure for international organisations based in the capital.”

CWA, based in Great Charles Street, was established in 2011 as Copeland Wedge Associates. The consultancy provides civil and structural design consultancy services to a wide range of sectors including leisure, residential, education, health, industrial, retail, infrastructure and public bodies.

The company has delivered buildings for major end-user clients including West Midlands Police, Birmingham City Council, Coventry City Council, Northamptonshire County Council, Housing 21, Midland Heart, Rooftop Housing, Orbit Homes, Chevin Homes, Wrekin Housing, University of Warwick, Aston University, Coventry Sports Foundation and Marks and Spencer.
